Invisible

Invisible by Amy Swanson All her life, she tried to stay where no one else could see. It's part of being invisible. When much has happened in your life You become afraid. Afraid to live... afraid to love... Best to stay where no else can hurt your heart. Live life from a distance try to hide your heart Never let them know just how vulnerable you are. For if they do... they may use it against you. I know. Put on a smile... dream your dreams... but keep a little part invisible.

Good advice, Amy. I, for one, am a hide-away, love to be by myself where no one can shred my confidence. I won't apologize, this from first hand experience. Good write. Love, daver

Excellent philosophy to live by here, Amy ... at least its worked for me for a long, long time. I've always known there was a part of me that belonged with Great Spirit and nowhere else ... smile ... very good choice to be featured this week at the Soup! Congratulations

It's sad to see people stand on the sidelines in life instead of living it. I like the format of this poem. Congratulations on having it featured. Wishing you ongoing success with your writing. Karen

Ah! ...you've just described my life, or some of it! Fear is at the bottom, I guess. Once you shed you fears your confidence will flourish... Well done Amy! Best wishes, Keith

I work with kids who hurt inside. This says a lot. The vulnerability came from having screwed up adults in their lives. I likked the poem. Vince

It does seem we need to protect ourselves from the cold, cruel world. Good idea and wonderful poetry. Love, Shar
