Interview With A Mirror
In a sunlit room I sit in front of a mirror, find its still
face shining as an animated entity. Intrigued by its
glassy silence I ask, are you always silent?
Mirror : Yes, but I’m in and out inherently honest, reflecting
the truth, and elegantly eloquent, revealing the
reality that faces me.
Me : You face the changing scenario around you all the
time. Do you remember every frame that passes
you by?
Mirror : No, whatever faces me leaves to disappear from
my discernment for good, because I’ve no emotional
attachment, nor do I’ve a memory.
Me : It’s interesting. In human world an unattached being
is either self-centric egoist or a hermit. What are you?
Mirror : I’m neither. I foster no bias or preferences. Being utterly
neutral, I perceive the images of an emperor and a beggar
shaped by the same authenticity as their real identities.
Me : That’s why people say that your character is paradoxical.
You’re still and fragile, yet so powerful in capturing the
individuality. How would you characterize yourself?
Mirror : Truly, I’m passive, yet I confront everything with candor.
I’m inert, yet I reveal with precision. I’m a silent witness to the
unexpressed truths, and a patient companion in self-scrutiny.
Me : I don’t understand. Could you clarify.
Mirror : Well, look in me. What do you see?
Me : I see me.
Mirror : Listen to your inner whisper I silently echo for you.
Me : Yes, I hear it saying, “Many aspects of singular distinction hide
within the network of your mind’s cipher layers, can’t be decoded
by the world outside, the reticent sense of silent self never cares.
An insular captive of your mental making, you’re you, an
inimitable loner.” It’s so true. I now understand what you said
earlier about your special quality.
Mirror : I would say that the ability to transform self-scrutiny into
self- adored realization is my unique attribute.
Me : You mean you create dormant Narcissus that lurks within those
transfixed with you.
Mirror : Yes, that’s my pleasure.
Me : It has been my pleasure too talking with you. Thank you for
the interview.
