~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Within the filing cabinet of your mind, there is a drawer of broken promises. Best of intentions to sort into an order of some kind, the need to do it, you swiftly dismiss. Your own broken promises thrown in with those of others, create an untidy, heaped mixture. A closed drawer neatly covers, Yet in your mind a permanent fixture?
Just wrote one similar. They say great minds think alike. Well I haven't got a great mind, but I have a great heart. Well done. Pete.
I prefer a great heart over a great mind anytime. I'm grateful we seem to be on the same poetic 'wavelength.' I appreciate you, your poems, and your visits. Have a splendid weekend, Sara
Your poem offers a poignant reflection on the human experience of grappling with broken promises and the challenges of confronting disappointment and unfulfilled expectations. It prompts readers to consider the importance of addressing unresolved issues and finding closure in order to move forward with clarity and peace of mind.
I agree with your comments, Silent One. Our inner filing cabinet is just like emotional baggage. It weights us down so badly that we're unable to move forward. Then we get comfortable with that cluttered filing cabinet, and it seems normal. Does that make sense? Okay rambling. Have a great day and thanks for your visit, Sara
I like how you explored the inner cabinets of mind-- filled with broken promises. A meaningful write, Sara.
Dear Sara, You have peeled back the layers of introspection with wonderful insight. I loved how your poem speaks to the weight of unfulfilled promises and the clutter they leave in the recesses of the mind. It's the importance of tidying our mental spaces and confronting our own shortcomings. Your poetic words spark contemplation and a desire for inner order. What would a day be without a Sara poem? - Blessings, my dear friend, - Daniel
Thank you, Daniel, for your visit and for your in depth comments about my poem. Sometimes we refer to that mental clutter as 'baggage.' I like this metaphor much better...but then again, it's mine. :-) (Ego talking here) smiles and have a blessed day, Sara
