Independence Day
INDEPENDENCE DAY
We gained our independence
As a nation based on God
Our forefathers dared to go
Where none before had trod
God blessed them for their efforts
Though many lives were lost
And God gave them the victory
But bloodshed was the cost
Today, we live in freedom
To worship as we please
Where sins are all forgiven
Christ shed His blood for these
We may be independent
And still live free, you see
But we need always remember
That freedom isn't free
It took the blood of many
To bring us to this end
And precious blood is still flowing
Because the world is filled with sin
But God, in His infinite wisdom
Made a plan for our salvation
By sending His Son to die for us
That we may be a great nation
For those who trust in Jesus
As their Savior and their Lord
He'll call us home to Heaven
To receive our great reward
So as we celebrate this year
And the price Christ had to pay
Thank God for Him and the lives it takes
To continue Independence Day
