In Winter's Grip

The ground is dusted white with snow Reminding us of what we know – That winter’s here (or just about), The snow removing any doubt. The temperature may rise or dip But we’ll remain in winter’s grip Until beneath the frozen mud, The crocuses burst forth and bud. We cannot battle Nature’s plan So we should all do what we can To take the next three months in stride And when it’s brutal, stay inside.

There has just got to be a safer way to get someplace other than driving. I sit here and watch the pileup of cars on the news and I feel so sorry for everyone caught in the blinding snow. It is beautiful but not much fun to be out there risking frostbite and shoveling just to get your car out. This has been a really brutal winter and we haven't even begun! I enjoyed your poem very much and your logic about excepting what we cannot change. Have a wonderful Christmas Ilene!: ) 7

I'll definitely stay inside but I'm hoping we don't get the snow Ilene - it looks pretty but lets reserve it just for Christmas card scenes as in reality it can cause havoc:-( hugs Jan xx

Hear, hear! Exactly what I do these bitter cold days, Ilene. Even my dog has to be dragged outside to do his things, then rushes like a bullet into the complex. The poem you commented on is sadly true of many who celebrate that holiday and has nothing to do with the religious beliefs associated with it! Even the Japanese now celebrate it, and why not, it's money for the merchants. Thanks for the stop as always. / M
