Listen to poem:
Unprecedented never been times like these A pandemic’s got the world on its knees Everyone’s life for how long put on hold We’re holding our breath in one surreal hush A nagging fear for ourselves and our loved ones Distanced in solidarity it’s our time to unite An age of innocence abruptly come to an end Our carefree nonchalance a thing of the past Wondering what the future will look like While the invisible enemy for now rules the roost AP: Honorable Mention 2020 Submitted on May 4, 2020 for contest IN TIMES LIKE THESE sponsored by SILENT ONE - RANKED 3RD

Congratulations on your win. I love your lines, "An age of innocence abruptly come to an end Our carefree nonchalance a thing of the past Wondering what the future will look like While the invisible enemy for now rules the roost." So very true. We have just lived through history. Enjoy your day and win............

These are indeed historical times much like the Black Plague and the extinction of the dinosaurs...

You're right about our carefree days having ended... though it's all relative... I remember how Sept 11, 2001 ended our carefree existence... Our memories are short these days... The Great Depression changed my father's life all his livelong days. (He passed away in 1989). That's over 50 years of living under the Great Depression's cloud. He was a hoarder and it hurt him to spend money. Boy, was he a saver! ~ Gershon

Our experiences taint us for sure. In the worst of ways and often the best...
