In the Sixties

In the sixties I went to university where I experienced much diversity For example, among fraternities mine went from ‘Kegs-a-Tappin’ to ‘Pills-a-Poppin’ ~ LSD, we were a-droppin’ Athletics were a big deal too freshman year we were football champs senior year, listened to Led Zeppelin’s mega-amps Then there was good old politickin’ After Kent State life was great Semester cancelled, May 14 the date… To let us work for our 'favorite candidate' Mine wore 6-inch heels, raised my pulse rate… Oh, I learned a whole lot in school ~ mostly, how to break the rules

This is a story of many people of the 60's. Such upheaval, and it moved too fast. This is a fun story of days gone by.

We attended University in the same years, almost. Drugs were not part of my generation.. Beer was at Hamilton‘s on Broadway, I know you know where that is. Or was.. It was a big hangout for Loyola U students .. And preceded Kent State.and Zeppelin. Protests todar are far worse, runby hate, now, Granny Pangie LOL

Aw, you don't believe those bumper stickers, do you, John? C'mon. I was around in the 1840's, sure enough. ~ Remember the Alamo

thanks for sharing that nostalgic and reflective poem. Going to college in the 60s and 70s was like living on the edge. I was a 'subtle' rule breaker, involved in sit-ins and mild protests...nothing like today. I even made the local news along with my tribe of would-be feminists who insisted that we, like the men living in the male dormitories, should have a key to unlock the doors after 10 p.m. We were 'locked in' after 10 p.m.....seemed inequitable...it's a long story. Enjoy your day, Sara

Well, I don't think there are any rules today just do what you want to do and if your parents have enough money, you can keep on staying on until you finally get a degree. I enjoyed reading your work. Sara K

The freedom era Gershon, everything seemed to explode, now we see governments trying to erode those freedoms. Tom

Always a delicate balance between not enough freedom and too much.
