In the Rose Patch

There's a lone girl sitting By my favorite rose. Hearing Her sob, my mind's made up. I land on her hand. Fluttering my blue and black Wings, I try to catch her Attention, hoping it'll stop The tears. She smiles through her Tears and lets me crawl Up her arm. Settling, Only for a second on her neck. She laughs. And with That beautiful laugh, I fly away, Watching her watch me. I land on a rose, waiting For her to see me. She rises And follows me as I flutter Through the flowers. "Don't leave." Her Whisper stops me, "Please, Don't." I flutter my wings, Once, twice. "You're my only friend." She puts her hand down, and I glide to it. Landing, I watch her. My black and blue Wings brush against Her cheek as I start To leave. But, she smiles, knowing, That next year, my kids will meet her. Meet her here, in the rose patch.
