Dear David, This is a lovely monoku. Life, as you know,, doesn't guarantee silver linings. We're usually surprised when one appears. Congrats on your win!

Thanks so much Dilly, I’m delighted with the response this one received in main stream of PS, I see your chef’s kiss is doing pretty well too, sometimes we can just capture the zeitgeist of the moment and shoot up the charts lol! Cheers David

David. This is lovely and thought provoking. I have said many times every silver lining has a cloud. All good things tend to come with that opposite side of the coin. When viewed this way, life is a constant stream of joy and grief that we can learn to negotiate with some happiness. Hope you are well and supplying smiles on a day when I am still alive!!

Thanks so much Duke, Yes indeed always reassuring to wake up alive, I often ponder if there was more sadness than happiness in the world, would life give up and become extinct, we need these special moments to dispel mortality, and give real meaning to existence, delighted to hand over the POTD baton to you, so well deserved, cheers David

I promise I was alive yesterday, so I've no explanation as to why I didn't read your Monoku. I ALWAYS read your Monoku! Food for thought that death is water soluble. If that is so, then it's true that tears cannot return a loved one... it must be the salt. I write this not in humor, but in a moment of feeling my mortality. Sorry I didn't see this yesterday, David. mea culpa.

Heya Lin, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss your mortality yesterday, but hey I go awol off the soup for large chunks and miss lots of stuff, so no worries, I used that newborn first tear dissolving mortality, metaphorically and metaphysically, I’m pretty sure (Salt) of the Earth people (our loved ones) are returned at certain points in eternity, thank you so much for stopping by with kind comments, cheers David

Lovely words, every newborn brings a tear to one’s eyes, the moment that a new baby cries. Congratulations David on receiving the honour of poem of the day… Beryl

Thank you so much Beryl, happy tears are actually made up of different chemicals than sad ones, they can tell us so much even at an atomic level, more than meets the eye! Cheers David

Seeing ' a newborn’s first tear,' while hearing that first cry. Such a tender moment to embrace. Life is precious, indeed. Congratulations David, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

We are indeed all mortal RJ, and Earth will be turned to dust when the sun expands to engulf it in its red giant stage, a few billion years from now, yet I find a newborn’s first tear somehow makes all that irrelevant, in a reassuring moment of clarity, I’m delighted you found my monoku moving, Thanks, cheers David

Birth a sweet memory and death's dissolution, existensional musing. Life & for some death are both considered silver linings (culturally determitive)the most beautiful elements of our existence. Congratulations to you on POTD! Wouldn't miss this opportunity to say hello! Not really back just One toe in the water, I was answering soupmail & found Andrea's Blog Thanks & Congrats to Published Poets: I posted there. ~Anaya

Super blog indeed! Dilly hello, miss you & David the most, ha. Since I am not a sponsor, I will stay out of it (AI) poetry, I found that it's best to mind my own business. I can tell the difference between AI poetry for now, just get to know the poets style. What irk's more are the constant complaints to teampoetry, such as quotes and algorithms. Change is inevitable and PS team is doing a great job! I love PS..See you soon

Hello right back at you back Anaya, I was away for a bit myself, a fair bit going on over the last week or so in the blog section, Dilly wrote a super blog about AI and had some solid advice on how to deal with those using it, to try minimise it’s impact on PS, thanks so much for congrats and a very relevant comment on existence in general, cheers David

Hello David, Where do I start, the beginning or the end? Well-written POTD that takes us from a newborn's tear with mortality's weight, which beautifully illustrates how brief experiences can provide peace against life's ultimate certainty. CONGRATS!! - Autumn Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Thanks so much Daniel, it probably doesn’t matter where you start once I’m still alive to experience it, true reality is somewhere between birth and death, anything before or after cannot be experienced (an agnostic view) but that baby’s first tear can dissolve all absolutes, and make everything just right in a moment of clarity, cheers David

Sometimes I read a poem I wish I'd written. This is one. The juxtaposition of birth and death, never absolute - I like that, great write David, worthy of potd

Most poets like to hear that kind of critique Clive, so thank you very much, I can only hope some of the poem rubs off on you, and inspires you to write something better than this one, high praise, cheers David

I love the philosophical aspect of your poem, David. The line is indeed blurred and celebrated/mourned per our belief systems. Congratulations on your POD.

Thank you Suzette, I’m agnostic myself and don’t believe in existential absolutes, although philosophical that we are part of a conscious universe that offers endless possibilities, cheers David

Not long back from holidays Dilly, so POTD was an extra special surprise, especially one that tries to peer a little deeper beyond mortality with the help of a newborn’s first tear, I have faith this infinite universe has no absolutes, and contains every conceivable possibility, cheers David

Thank you Tom, I am totally surprised and delighted with POTD honours, I tried to go a little deeper with this one as I genuinely believe death is not absolute, only a dissolution of consciousness, newborns are indeed a joy to behold, cheers David
