In the Name of Dove -With Ram R V

little Rock
               Doves at my feet
             Imploring eyes watch
as I eat and I will share my
                lunch with you not
                   shoo you away
                 like others do
              for I recognize
           your tam'ed nature
        Am greatly pained by your
       fallen stature Dovecotes kept since
        Ancient times Now you're persecuted
for our crimes Considered dirty flying vermin
Might I suggest a different sermon Giving Praise
To Thee Dear Dove our oldest symbol of Peace and Love
in times of war you have served us well For our men you flew
and fell Honored couriers meritorious saving lives on wings glorious
not just for your flight to flourish But by your eggs and meat to

forget sporting the same flute like coo and
head bobbing meet-cute "How do you do?"

Maureen, this poem has everything. Visually it's more than impressive. And your words explore the multifaceted meaning of what a dove is; or is not. This is fantastic poetry at its best Maureen!!!

Thank you Jeff! Tho, our words, Ram co wrote with me. I had the artistic license and full rein. And thought of something will make you laugh, back to pElvis, I broke mine after leaving the same building twice. And both half a block from home. Yes, the building in question is the tavern.

This was beautiful; wonderful shape; magnificently penned. I do love doves and it irritates me to no end when cities slaughter a bunch of them. Every species in this world has its purpose and such destruction causes us to lose so much. Very lovely. A "fav" now.

Yes, and especially the damage they do when they use poison. Argh. I think something like 10 other species can be wiped out with the extinction on one bird species. Crazy the web we unweave. Thank you :))) xomo!

Giggles no! Just a bird nerd :) They have about 340 degree field of view so mostly monocular vision, the head movement (actually it stops as body moves) is like taking freeze frame shots, without the depth perception of binocular vision this is how they see anything approaching etc. You'll notice little birds hop to same effect. Crows strut...

Beautiful collab poem, Maureen. I'm a bird lover myself ... so I truly do appreciate the knowledge and love you dropped in the poem and comment section. You are a rare bird yourself. A creative genius of a soulful poem by R.V. and you. A heart-shaped dove of pure poetry. Love and much more love always.

This is impressive, Maureen. Unfortunately we have too many pigeons in our towns and cities and they have become a nuisance. Although we still recognise the white dove as the Dove of Peace but they are less common these days.

I like pigeons.. they are God's creatures, many people do not like them because they think they spread disease.. Thank you for the lesson.. Appreciated... No white doves as yet.. but it is cold, so they probably hiding.. or flown south..

Ive only seen pigeons do this, not white doves...White dove are a symbol of love and one close to my heart..I remember at a funeral of a loved one, a white dove sat on her grave for a long time... Everytime I see one, its a reminder..Beautiful poem...

:) White homing doves are Rock Doves, are pigeons, their colours (and the reason why pigeons colours vary so) bred by man. In fact all the crazy man made pigeons are bred from Rock Doves. I have three doves, the common pet Indian Ringneck doves, aka pigeons, the word referring to larger or domesticated doves. Can you tell I take pigeon discrimination seriously LOL ;) I saw an escaped banded white join a flock downtown and observed the spread his white plume genes over generations. Thank you Silent One :) I hope you see a white dove today xomo
