In the Middle Of

The world stopped spinning,
and started coming to a violent halt
When we took that first kiss,
inside our newlywed house debt bought

The world went into a deep freeze,
empty hearts were waxing so cold
When we went into the bedroom
and started taking off our clothes

The wheel of worry stopped its turning,
as consummating our love started to begin
And this virgin journey now near the end,
destination as soul mates from just friends

Our intimate love started
when this jaded world
was coming to an end

Tears of heaven
started falling from above
as we were
in the middle of making love

The world started falling apart

The world cried when we were
in the middle of making love
And we both now know
the Adam and Eve sorrows of

Our new life was starting

The world died when we were
near the climax of making love

Very interesting, your exploration of Adam and Eve! Loved it! Sadness for the human race but for God, who makes all things new!

Ty for the loving comments, Alexis and Maya. This poem is not a literal end-of-the-world poem, but it is a love story set in an impending apocalyptic world (like today ain't close to the brink.) Anywho ... they found Garden of Eden bliss, joy and happiness, while the world has descended to deeper hatred, more gloom-and-doom. It starts to rain heavily on their maiden voyage first day of marriage. So that is the background for the Noah flood end-of-the-world allusion. That is the emotional framing of this poem. Hope that gives a better insight. Love and peace always.

Wow! Freddie, What a remarkable piece you have written. I loved the line " Destination soulmate from just friends". This is such a sad deep piece that's filled with love and passion. Did there union happen at the end of world ( coming of Christ)? I will have to read this gem again and again to gain a better understanding. Like always good job my talented friend:-) Alexis
