In Only a Breath
Inhale
At this hour, I cannot see
What lay below, Beneath, Beside me.
As the earth turns, I can only feel.
As my heart mends, heals.
As I look above,
I simply wish to watch,
As earth dances under night’s light.
This moment is my lifetime.
Leaving my doubts, fears behind.
I am able to breathe.
My once heavy breath,
Is ignited by joy within my heart.
And yet, what lay beyond weighs down ever heavy,
Bullet by bullet becomes one too many.
As I look up at the stars, I turn,
Only to see them in your eyes.
You hold the skies.
In your hands, Every move, Breath you take,
A dawn, A sunrise.
You carry the stars, My hope.
I do not fear the pain of tomorrow.
I can no longer taste this life’s sorrow.
Washed away by rain.
The damp earth collects my doubt of this world.
My heart beats to the rhythm of night’s song.
I no longer fear the beyond, beside, and above
Every doubt unties.
In this moment I feel love.
This song, moment, this breath is hope.
I am no longer the master of my thoughts, the master of my will.
In this moment, we are beautiful.
In this moment we are still.
Exhale.
