In My Shoes

You said you wanted to walk in my shoes.
It could be tricky, too tight or too loose.
You’d wobble and hobble just like a goose
who trips o'er laces, gets many a bruise  
when making merry and drinking much booze.
Be warned that my life is hardly a cruise,
I cannot afford to pick and to choose.
I live on my own; I am a recluse!

At the moment I am having foot problems – arthritis is setting in. So far I am enduring the mild pain but in coming years I expect it will get worse. Of well, will just have to live with it. I know this is really about life and not shoes, but it reminded me of other women trying to wear my shoes...and there's something to be said for living simple and alone!
