In Concrete Earth
In concrete earth there blooms a rose.
Its crimson beauty boldly shows.
With perfect petals in neat folds
a cement garden city holds
a sight so rare, nobody knows.
In rain and wind the flower grows
between the cracks and all life’s throes
beneath a sidewalk under foot,
In concrete earth.
You wonder if this seedling chose
to break away from all of those
and plant itself somewhere for bold
who do not fit in the same mold.
So, here a rose is juxtaposed
In concrete earth.
