Notes About The Poem

Just a little scribble, as an example for my current contest with the same title.

In a World where I do not Exist

In a world where I do not exist
in invisible air my soul roams.

The sun would still blaze in amber light,
the moon and stars sparkle over ebony.
Rainbows and butterflies,
an epitome of silent elegance
would flutter in an abundance of colours.
Rain and snow, pain and sorrow, storms and hurricanes,
winds would weave between ancient trees,
dahlias and roses would still blossom,
but not with my hands,
robins would arrive and then leave,
humming birds still hum their hymns.

There would still be poetry,
just no words of mine,
left behind - would you become a poet?
There would not be no
misunderstood metaphors
nor concern about belonging.

There would be no recollections,
no echoes of my voice,
no memories, no angst, no scars
and that, which died, would not need to survive.
Maybe you would be happier - smile more.

No regret and no remorse.
Do debate about what is worthy and what is not.
No broken hearts - no forgotten promises.
No rage, no victims nor villains -
no turning the page.

No one would need to mourn for me
nor would there be a goodbye.

The music would still play,
but you would sing a different tune,

But in those moments of De Ja Vu -
that make you wonder - maybe that would be me
and would you still wish
to have met me?

In a world where I do not exist
I'm happy not to be born.

Damn! Those last lines hit. This speaks so powerfully to the question of existence and absence, what life would be like if we were never born or left no mark. I love how you paint the world continuing without us—the sun still blazing, the rainbows still fluttering, yet there's an undeniable silence in it all. However, your words and metaphors will always exist. The things you have weaved and created and the people you have healed from those creations. You'll live on.

Dear Silent One, why do you feel that you don't belong to this world when you are so much appreciated by others. I feel what you lack is self appreciation. Your silence will be deeply felt and your poetry will be deeply missed. "No one would need to mourn for me nor would there be a goodbye." Please delete from your mind this false feeling. I feel it a blessing to have got acquainted with you through this poetry site and read some of your great poems. Sorry to say that after reading some of your poems, I become so heavy hearted. This is great poetry, no doubt, but please try to feel that you are much wanted here and are greatly appreciated.

Sad poem this is dear silent one , i cant even imagine a life without your poetic presence, as you are truly an inspiration for many! I love the flow and depth of emotions in this and i dont think i can write like this for your contest, its too good and is also very sincere. I love the lines “ The sun would still blaze in amber light, the moon and stars sparkle over ebony. Rainbows and butterflies, an epitome of silent elegance“ how beautiful! Such gorgeous imagery. “ Maybe you would be happier” that line made me sad! Its sad when one feels misunderstood and feels like without them life would be better and easier for others: a feeling n thought many times, many would also experience and feel and its not a pleasant place to be: this poem really is sad and very soul hitting! Powerful one! Pleasure reading this! Sending you light always silent one

But you do exist dear friend, so very alive and well and living in England. But i know what you re telling us in the poem, you feel you don't exist. The world would still exist but with no poetic words from you, ' no echoes of my voice, no memories, no angst no scars ....... maybe you would be happier - smile more.' Not me I'd miss you! 'No regret or remorse....... no one would need to mourn for me, but in your memories of De Ja Vu, - 'would you still wish to have met met me?' 'In a world where I do not exist, I'm happy not to be born,.' But you were so and I for one am glad you were, Blessings Jennifer.
