In a Forest of Tall Giant Trees
In a forest, wind was softly blowing.
I stood surrounded by tall, giant trees.
One Redwood there seemed like he was showing
some gestures to me! Was it just the breeze?
But other trees joined in then too. They shook
their leafy limbs, and then they spoke to me!
They gently spoke on seeing my scared look.
The first one said, “Come here and hug a tree.
Embrace my ancient trunk. Know how I feel,
for I’ve a body just like you - and I
feel joy and sadness too. These things are real.
Tell others what we say. This earth may die.
Without us, you can’t breathe. Warn everyone
you need us like you need the rain and sun!"
