Immaculate invasion in a cryptic, tiptoe way Emulating doves while landing - soft and understated Gaze upon one bright star in the sky's celestial lay Entranced, some shepherds see a host, hear glory's tale narrated Deception? No, for prophecies were made in ancient day Now child in lowly manger lies, this glad day long awaited // Rhyme scheme = ABABAB with the last letter of each line's first word determining the first letter of the following line //

Joseph, every Advent season we sing "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus" and "O Come, O Come Immanuel" with that same sense of longing for the Messiah's second coming that the Israelites had for his first coming. Thanks for hosting this contest and for the generous placement. Peace, my friend ~ John

Yes, John, everything was foretold, it was all written down, the signs are all there, this is just the beginning, some are awakening to this, others plainly just do not care, I just love the way you have put this across in such a heavenly way . . .

Indy, I'm glad you picked up on the prophecy line, imho it's such an important part of the incarnation story. His birth was long awaited by those who knew the prophecies. Blessings, John

Yes, the signs, the words are there to find. I always compare to being pregnant. Your life is about to change. There is someone new, though kin a stranger but tangible evidence of an intangible reality. Be blessed!

Kim, thank you my dear friend for your uplifting comment and the honor of your fave. I loved your analogy with pregnancy, "though kin a stranger but tangible evidence of an intangible reality". So apropos!

Yes, fun, but I also found it challenging. I'm not used to having the first word and the last word of each line constrained by the form. It took a while, but I enjoyed the journey. I'm glad you were blessed by the end result, Sam!

Rercy, I am humbled by your kind words. I am learning from other writers as are you. Each new form, each writing style, each individual history, each meter or rhyme scheme, each expression of vulnerable honesty; I take in and learn from. I'm very blessed to see you on Poetry Soup and observe and participate in your poetic journey. Thank you!
