Illusions
They watched as she rose from the ocean
A beauty not of this world
Hair cascading like waterfall
Body glittering like the Sun
Mouths dropped in admiration
Sounds of lips smirking with envy
The rush of them all clamouring
Came stumbling across the bank
If only they could get a glimpse
Of this fair creature
Impatience as the struggle increased
Only to come to an end
The illusion of it all
How could the world play this trick
This was after all the way it was
For expectations were dampened
As the waves subsided
The awe was shattered
It was just a figment
A far-fetched outcry of hopes diminished
