Notes About The Poem

Picture Prompt Poetry Contest sponsored by  Margarita Lillico ~ Aug 2024 [Placed 3rd]

Ignorance is Bliss

Chris lived in the folds of duality
Was told to ‘sort out’ sexuality
But he buried his head
In the water instead
Refusing to face life’s reality.

Hi Paul, poor guy no one to explain to him how to sort out his sexuality or his evident frustration, and hence his refusal to face his duality or life's reality. Congrats on your deserved win my friend. Blessings, Jennifer.

Reality of todays world, its sad when some feel the need to sort out sexuality at such a tender age, the confusion they must go through must be really intense. Refusing to face reality i hope water does help him see better. For some reason this made me smile! Hah! Love it! Best wishes dear paul. Sending you light always

This one is really clever! Also your limerick really flows and rhymes so well.. I must admit this is not a strong form for me, as I'm never one for meter..

Good one, dear. These days it seems so hard to sort out one's sexuality. Burying his head in the water might help him sort it out real quick. I'm in Cyprus at the moment, visiting my daughter. Big hugs

I don't usually write about this topic, Eileen; this Limerick wrote itself! I'm glad you are managing to have a break, and to be with your daughter at the same time. Love & hugs // paul

I am sure it could be a confusing matter, Tom, especially at certain critical ages. Of course, burying heads in sand/water is not the solution. ~ Regards // paul
