If There Were Just More Porches

An old house with an old porch
Is a most miraculous thing.
Politics are settled, children admonished,
Babies shown off and growing up,
Advice shared – we need more porches,
Fewer therapists, values taught, not anything goes.
Where mothers wait for suppers to cook,
And young housewives seek company,
Where daddies later come home and gather,
Joking with the paper boy, watching the cartwheels,
Some drink a beer, but mostly there’s grown-up talk.
Summertime on our corner brought so many droppers by.
The world would be a better place if

There were just more porches.

Simple and benevolent truth... No matter where we come from, it's wholesome. Amazing!

Just a few more porches ... and hearts, minds, souls shaped by that BIGEER American Dream: trust your neighbors. Just adore Line #3 (When we avoid God, we worship politicians). Forgive me - but it is a blind spot in US civilization now. Shalom, shalom. THX

As we humans distance ourselves from nature's beauty so our humanity declines. I have created a roof garden seven years ago because I believe in what you say! Wonderfully written dear , Sunlite with a meaningful message!
