If Only Time Didnot Hurt

I’ve been told “things work out for the best” in that way each of us Divinely blessed God in control they say – if only Time didn’t hurt… I believe in life hereafter I believe no wrong God can’t have undone; someday somehow our dear Lord to make all losses won -- God in control they say -- if only Time didn’t hurt… God in control they say though ticking I find unbearable swinging pendulum a clank and clunk~ when a heart sunk too deep one’s despair...yet I am told, God is always fair – always there – somewhere taking loving care God in control they say -- if only Time didn’t hurt... No theologian am I just a common soul, treading, adrift; questioning if sane to trust in fate -- dialogues with God sounding always one sided debate -- I believe in love while more questioning my faith God in control they say your silence pushing me further astray -- if only Time didn’t hurt... If only Time didn’t hurt… If only Time didn’t hurt….

Profound poem, Joe. The phrase, 'if only Time didn't hurt' seems to be at the essence of our lives especially as we get older. I felt the felt about questioning time and even God. Perhaps it's human nature to do so. Just a beautifully captivating read

Hi Sara; somehow even when knowing the why and how, it does not make the process easier, for me anyway. And I am certain that God sheds our tears with us. It all comes back to Free Will -- such things will not change until we consciously evolve further spiritually. Blessings my friend.

And when having fun, it passes far too quickly. Oh well...we do our reasoned best...making omelets out of cracked eggs, and trying to change enemies into love ones. Thank you my very wise poet friend. Blessings!

I can resonate deeply with the ache and painstaking depth that you've so evocatively described in these lines. Having gone through such grief, many a time, questioning time, questioning everything that surrounded the air, I can feel how poignant and vulnerable one's soul becomes, losing its essence and then finally losing every hope that God will undo every wrong deed. I too, believe that, time doesn't heal, it makes us accept the situation as it is, and in the worst, it hurts even more..

Thank you so much, Hiya. So pleased this work touched your heart. We write what we honestly feel, happy to find that we are not alone in our hearts as perhaps sometimes thinking. Love is Universal, a gamut of wins and defeats, sours and sweets. Blessing my friend.

Sometimes we are hurt too deep, beyond what we can bear. On such moments we are likely to ask if God is fair. Seeing the suffering of many innocent people, we often wonder why God allows so much of suffering to some. We often get no answers and it goes a one sided debate. But I am sure " the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear." A poem which has sprung from your heart echoing the thoughts of many. Enjoyed reading your poem Joe.

Love your comment. Like myself, taking poetic time with comments, I can see and hear the great amount of thought that went into this one -- great sense and Divine Light animating your Heart-voice. Often our greatest poetry, our best presentations are our free verse comments -- pure poetry...from our lips to god's ears~ and back again. Such blessed connection! Thank you.

Wow...what a powerful line 'if only time didn't hurt.' Somedays I feel that way. But faith seems to diminish that feeling. I enjoyed your poem...yes, it would make for a great song. Sara

While reading this Joe, I was thinking, "this feels like a song" Then I read your reply to Vijay.. Lol Reading it again, envisioning a tune as I read, its really very good. When hurt becomes unbearable, it is hard not to question our faith, if even for just a fleeting moment, If only time didn't hurt. Well done Joe. I really like it.

Hi Vijay; my latest attempt at writing a song. It is an art I am yet to acquire:) Thank you for the encouragement my friend. I think most us have a twinge of doubt, now and then, when it comes to faith (nothing to be ashamed of) -- especially when our hearts are aching. Blessings.
