If Only I Could

I know some deep pain saddens you.
It has been nesting in your heart for long.
Breeding in the silence of your soul
It leaves furrows on your brow.

It intensifies with every deepening night.
Leaving the wound in your heart severely bleeding
Something that you don’t want to divulge,
Robbing all your cheer and ebullience away.

I can feel the smoldering of your heart.
How I wish I could fan away those aches.
Wipe off all the gloom from your mind,
Or at least share a bit of it, my dear!

Even when you wear a mask impenetrable,
You might wonder how I know it.
Is it telepathy that I can read your thoughts?
Sense the rising palpitations of your heart?

When I see your struggle to cover up your pain
And put on a smile that is not genuine,
How I wish I could alleviate your pain,
Staying by your side, wiping those tears away.

Though far, please know I am quite near.
Somewhere so close, round the corner.
I am with you as an unseen presence,
Praying for you ever and wishing you all good.

Life is strange with sudden twists and turns.
Sometimes we feel we have come to a cul de sac.
But never lose hope, any time there can be a turn around.
It’s often after a bleary night, comes the bright morn.

Again, the sun shall show up in the East.
Darkness will recede and light shall descend.
The meadows with dew drops shall shine.
And the woods with the song of birds will resonate.

How I wish to be staying close to you,
To douse the heat of your anguished soul,
And tell you in assured tone and timbre,
That I shall be with you ever, if only I could!

Valsa, your reassuring words are very priceless and relaxing. Emotional language has an influence. "How I wish I could fan away those aches. Wipe off all the gloom from your mind, Or at least share a bit of it, my dear!" Without a question, outstanding poetry, my friend. Excellent sympathetic reading. From the first to the last verse, you had my full focus. Blessings.

If I'm a woman, then -- O, how I wish you could be here to soothe my nerves as well, Valsa. Thank you for your exceptional empathy... If I'm a man, then -- Would you leave me alone and let me crawl back into my 'man-cave?!' ~ Men are from Mars; Women are from Venus (Ever read it?! -- Great insights!) Oh, btw: lovely phrase poem you've written here Valsa. Thanks, gw

I thought I should comment on your comment. Even though you are a man and need to be comforted, definitely I will be there to comfort you in ways I can and never let you languish in your 'man cave' :) I can never discriminate. Thank you for your wonderful comment, dear Gershon.

Hi Valsa; quite an ending. We can promise to be with loved ones forever, and if one believes in Spirit Immortal maybe we can. Certainly sensing one another over great distances is a positive sign. I believe in telepathy...have had amazing experiences in my life that defy conventional science. I'm a believer. Wonderful sensitive read. Captured my attention from the get-go. Blessings. Great contest entry!

I too have bit of a telepathy. If something is troubling my dear ones, especially my children though they are away, I grow very uneasy during those days. Must be some divine spark within us gives such insight. This has happened not once or twice but many a time. Thanks a lot Joe for your lovely comment
