If It's Poetry You Seek

If it's poetry that you tend to seek Then, write words down That you want to speak You can write about the birds and the bees Or write something you've beheld, if you please But, just remember that the words that you've wrote Will be looked at by others to note And for them to try to comprehend That the notes to them, you want to send Might be a little far fletched or remote But, as a poet I think you should know The meanings of how your words flow You must also try to realize That's what seen by others eyes May be looked at like it's pure- status quo

But write to please yourself, don't worry about what others think, because by others your poem will be forgotten in a wink. ......... Good advice Charlie

Very true, someimes when I'm stuck I try to write a scene or feeling, then I think if someone else reads this will they understand, or will it, as you said, be too remote? But I think ultimately you should write what moves you and not worry about the status quo

Perfect advice to would-be poets. Write and write often. And read those of other's poets too.

Sounds like great advice, Charles. Not everyone has the same vocabulary. Hard to read a poem or anything for that matter when it's loaded with words one has to look up.
