If It Were Not For You
If it were not for you
I would have long found love,
I would have lived in peace
Not knowing heartache or grief.
These sunny days would
have warmed my heart,
And these moonlit nights
would have soothed my soul;
If it were not for you
I would have long found love,
I would not have been so restive
If it were not for you!
This cool breeze would have
calmed the raging fever within,
And I would not have known
loneliness or searing pain;
If it were not for you
I would have long found love,
It would not have hurt so bad
If it were not for you!
These foreboding clouds
close in more and more tightly,
And it seems as though
there’s no longer any hope;
If it were not for you
I would have long found love,
It would not have looked so dark
If it were not for you!
