If I Were An Elephant
If I were an elephant,
I'd pray to the creator for
a diamond tipped beak.
To peck away this forever ball and chain.
Of man's grand deceit.
...I'd pray for a giant pair of wings.
To soar high above brush fires.
Above the steely hook of carnival greed.
...I'd pray for a starry- starry map.
To find and give birth in the sweetest grass.
In the end, behind a starry waterfall.
I'd humbly lay me down to sleep.
Garnished by the noble tusks.
of yesterday's golden streams.
