If I Were a Stone

Oh, if I were a stone would you love me indeed, So that we couldn't argue, that be all you need? For it seems that you want just approval from me, But does stone know to give this or show empathy? If a friend was a bell, would you silence his ring? Are you tone deaf perhaps, so no chord seems to sing? Are my words judged fake news if YOU don't like their tone? Friends' demands aren’t a problem if they are all stone. If a stone's unresponsive most all of the time, It won't lash out in anger, won't borrow your dime, It's rare stone that's a poet; no feelings to share, Hot or cold a stone's limit, there's no there that's there!
