Notes About The Poem

If I Only Had a Brain

Here’s a poem about poet Jan Who’s recalled for a second brain scan I was called in again Could they not find my brain … Hope my poems don’t go down the pan! The scanner whirred and clicked into gear I wore headphones so I could just hear Queen’s ‘I want to break free' Was the song played to me … It did nothing to quell any fear! The is a factual poem – I got recalled today for a second brain scan and whilst the scan was taking place the radio was playing Queen’s ‘I want to break free’ … it really made me smile 03~16~17

ha! it's so funny that we both listened to queen while in the scanner. the music really helped to calm me down (as did keeping my eyes closed - i'm claustrophobic!). mine was for shoulders and hips - i was in there for a total of 2 hours (with a few minutes break in between). great poem, by the way!

Oh gosh Ilene 2 hours in that clanking noisy machine must have been hard to deal with if you are claustrophobic. Hubby had an MRI recently and he had the headphones on but didn't have music played as he actually wanted to hear the whirrs clicks and bangs of the machine !:-) Hope your scan results are good:-) hugs jan xx

It's wonderful you can find humor in the most difficult situations. I have had open and closed MRIs, and I did want break free especially in the closed one. It makes me wonder if your tech intentionally played that song, Some people have a sick sense of humor...Try not to worry. I've been for 2nd scans because of tech error. I'm praying your results are negative.

It was actually played on a radio station - I was given a choice of two - I chose a different one to the first scan as I knew they would have a music programme on :-) hugs jan xx

That wouldn't be my first choice of songs to hear when in that...thing. Made ya wanna throw off your paper doll clothes and run out screaming, did it? You know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thankfully I didn't have to wear a gown Lin - hopefully my brain is in my head ... then again with some men they would have to scan their backsides to find theirs lol:-) hugs Jan xx

I was lucky my hubby has an mri before his cancer was diagnosed so he told me to shut my eyes as soon as I lay on the table - it was great advice:-) I have got everything crossed for Monday - guess humour is my coping mechanism:-) hugs jan xx

Oh, Jan - this is funny, so many jokes to be made concerning what you went thru. I often sing, 'if I only had a brain.' This is indeed funny, but does nothing to diminish my concern for you. I'm a praying! Love Queen, love you - be well! Hugs ... CayCay

Was lucky enough to see Queen's final concert at knebworth Park in 1986 - awesome !!! When they put the music on and it was i wan't to break free I had to smile - the first scan i had about 10 days ago there was another suitable song playing but I can't remeber which one it was now but it made hubby laugh when i told him:-) hugs jan xx

It was such a co incidence that song was playing on the radio when I had the scan. I kept my eyes shut the moment I lay down on both scans so I didn't feel claustrophobic and the person who did the scans was the same man each time which was very re assuring:-) hugs jan xx
