If I Could

If I could…I would write you a love poem If I could…it would feel like home. If I could, it would smell like sea foam, And if I could, it would shine as chrome. But it seems that I can’t write in pink ink. I can’t write anything loving I think. I can’t write about how every second I sink Into you more as I find myself and I shrink. I can’t write about how I need you and me in sync And how you are every drop of beauty I care to drink. Let it be known that I truly wish something loving I could write And thoughts flood my mind as you fill my sight. Regardless, I can’t pen it, that is my plight I write to process, to bleed out happiness and pain Something I’ve never done is write about droplets in the middle of rain. Suffice it to say, there is a debt of words I’d like to pay, And my great struggle is that I live my love poem every day.
