If Archie Bunker Were Still Alive

I don’t mean to bust Archie’s hump.
He meant well, the simple old chump,
   But damn, how buffoonish
   His views, so cartoonish,
In short, he’d have staunchly liked Trump!

Yes he would, Ed! Thing is, audiences laughed at Archie because he seemed so over the top, but the president has a base that supports him regardless. You captured Archie's character, Ed. Congrats on your first-place win! Hugs, Carolyn

Heck, Arch would have worshiped Trump! ---Lucky we've "missed out" on those episodes, eh?! :)

Interesting thought. Archie screened down under too. Jury still out on this one for me, Archie screened at time when people were quicker to draw back from the abyss and have a rethink. Great subject for debate as to importance of Archie like characters in the scheme of things. At least we could laugh at them. Best regards David in NZ

Thanks, David. I agree that most conservatives were a lot less extreme in those days (i.e., the days of Nixon, who would practically be considered a liberal by today's standards, in US political terms). But I still think the Archie Bunker character fits the mold of a typical Trump-supporter almost to a tee. Just my opinion, of course. :-)
