If
If I had known
Our last farewell
Would be the final one
You never would have gone!
If!
That small word
So much shorter
than the bullet
Which took your life away
And caused another cross
To mar the lawn
In a country
which knew you
Only as a number!
REST IN PEACE

I never shall
