tapioca balls swirling across the pavement ~ graupel has fallen We are experiencing inclement weather and have had ‘snow’ in a form I had never seen before, it is like tiny Styrofoam balls or tapioca grains, I googled and discovered it is called graupel, hence the poem 02/09/21

Here in Malta we get neither snow nor graupel...but we do get hail. We also get sunshine in February :) This past week has been beautiful! Regards to all ~ Hugs // paul

Wow, I've seen large hail, but it never looked like that, Jan. I hope your weather is improving now. I love this haiku! (Never heard graupel before.) Hugs, Carolyn

- I've never heard of "graupel" snow ... we had 21 minus degrees early this morning ... and we have lots of snow ... like living in a freezer :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Interesting Jan. I haven't heard that description. I have seen it come down like icy balls as you have put it, but not lately. Well done :)

I have never seen 'snow' like it and was talking with a friend and she described it as polystyrene and it was a perfect description but i wouldnt use it in my poem... just the thought of it sets my teeth on edge lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Same stuff is falling here Jan last couple of days I thought they where snow grains, but graupel, is just downright rude, icy balls is the correct name, cheers David

lol definitely icy balls lol, it is something we have never seen before and it was swirling on the road and pavement... least it doesn't hurt like hail, we went walking in it lol:-) hugs Jan xx
