ICHABOD THE TURTLE

ICHABOD THE TURTLE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There once was a snapping turtle named Ichabod, An intrepid soul, his legs lightning rods. Rabbits, he outpaced, left them confused, And with his speed, they were not amused. Oh how all the other turtles did applaud! “You run like a Greek god!” they said agog. “Why do you have the running ethic of a slog?” With a laugh and a sigh, He'd say, "I’ll tell you why. I’m just here for the snacks, those delicious frogs.”

What a charming and delightful verse, a tale spun with whimsy and wit! I witnessed Ichabod running past confused bunnies and enjoying the admiration from his peers turtles.

thank you, dear Sotto, for your visit and for your appreciation of my twisted, whimsical tale of the tortoise outrunning the hares. I've always appreciated the underdog, I suppose. Wishing you a pleasant evening, Sara

Nice twist for that final line, Sara. Everyone except the frogs will love it. Hugs, Bill

Dear Sara, thsi had me smiling all the way through — such a clever, whimsical tale! I could picture Ichabod dashing past bewildered rabbits and basking in the praise of his fellow turtles. And that final line about the snacks? Absolutely perfect! Hugs

It’s a cute and funny limerick — love how Ichabod’s speed is really just about chasing snacks. Made me smile.

Love his name & inclusion of Greeks. After all they the best chefs, though I don’t align with chopping up turtles for soup. Long way for frogs from river to sea, just to be eaten as snacks. Happy day !
