Notes About The Poem

Ice Diamonds

After the flurry
My soul delights
Soft curves before me
Ice cream dreams
Shadows dancing and stretching
Defining infinite frozen sculptures

Ice diamonds
floating through the air
Glistening
Riding the shafts of pale sunlight
Landing on my nose
Blanketing my eyelashes
I capture them on my tongue
A frosty treat

A shiver up my spine
I wiggle my toes awake
Warmth in my belly caresses me

Surreal
This glorious tapestry before me
Silent beauty
Her dress of lace
Paper cutout high heels
A crown of icicles

Hugging myself now
A hole in my mitten
Allowing the magic
to seep into my heart

Wishing Happy Healthy Holidays to all
and best wishes for a Wonderful New Year !

Your way with painting imagery and weaving descriptive words is beyond impeccable and i love reading good poetry, when i feel like dreaming away. And that’s exactly what your poems do, i love this poem and the very unique and authentic way you’ve phrased things, so touching and soulfully divine especially “ A crown of icicles” “ Ice diamonds floating through the air“ wow! Impressive! I am in awe!! Fave this is for me definitely! So i can read again later! Loved this

Greetings Susa, Your detailed, evocative descriptions of a winter crystal palace invite much reader reflection particularly for we folk who live in the north. Congratulations on achieving such snowy, icy depictions - "this glorious tapestry.." before us all (if we choose to see it.) Be well. Sincerely, Brian

This is a breathtaking poem Susan dear friend. I love to see the winter photos that poets post as we have never seen the countryside blanketed in snow and icicles hanging from trees. We have snow maybe once every 12 years but not much, such an exciting experience. The last time we had snow, the highway came to a standstill as cars, taxis and trucks parked in the yellow lines to get outside into the snow, it was lovely to see adults playing like children! Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

Dearest Jennifer, Your comments and visit brought a big smile to my face! I can see it now ...all of those people stopped by the side of the road to play like children in the new snow that is such a rarity where you are. Snowballs and icicles and the chill can make any adult into a playful child one again. A magical experience. Big hugs and all blessings to you, Susan :)

Winter with its icy chill is so beautifully described here Susan . I like the image of the mitten with a hole allowing the magic of wintry chill to creep into your being. "The frozen sculptures' are lovely to behold ....

So wonderfully you relate your own, natural being, to the winter wonderland around you. I think that if we all saw the earth and ourselves as living, breathing extensions of one source, the world would be a lot better off -- protected and sanctified. Lovely writing!!

What a tribute to the beauty of winter's snow and the joys of experiencing white puffs of love. The picture above was beautiful, such giant tress. The read was comforting and brought back pleasant memories of winters past. Thanks for sharing your gift of poetry, Bill
