I Would Be Flying Right Now

I would be flying right now, this second, way up in the sky, If I believed that I could. Which I always believed as a small child. I flew around in my bedroom nightly, after brushing my hair one hundred strokes. Because they forgot to tell me I could not fly. My twin sister thought it was hilarious. She kept asking me how I could do that. I knew I could and so I did. It is that easy. Weirdly enough, the experts kept telling me it could not be done, that it was a lie. That I was not able to fly. I believed them, and so the flying stopped. I am sad about this sometimes. Only my twin and I know I can do it. It is a matter of keeping myself away from the others....

Children are so full of optimism and possibly, until someone tells them they can't do it, sadly infecting them with negativity...

So sad when I see a child shut down completely from a person who has no idea what they just said was devastating.

Thank you Panagiota. I am one of those rare 85 words per minute typists which helps and I do try to be as supportive as time will allow. Working full time usually takes me away a few hours a day, but we have had 11 days off school for ice, snow, and bitter cold wind chills. A record year of staying home! I always had children around who took up maximum amounts of time. I truly miss that!
