I Wonder What the World Would Do

I wonder what the world would do If it were left to me and you To sit together and decide Should it be frozen or quick fried? If somehow we were made to shed The talking points within our head To listen to the other side Assuming they had naught to hide. See that the gap ‘tween young and old Runs deeper than the stories told That passion Is the flaming torch Of burning tongues that loudly scorch The very earth we wish to save If only we could learn to brave All voices though they seem off key Because they don’t agree with me. This one makes a girl like me stop and think. Why can't we all get along? It is an age old question. "All voices though they seem off key/because they don't agree with me". And you are right we as humans are horrible at conversations when we are right not them. Sounds like self righteous and entitlement!

This one is a treasure, John. Post it in the White House and in the two chambers of Congress immediately.... O.K., forget the White House. What's the use, unless you can put it on a teleprompter... But maybe there's still some hope that Johny Congressperson can still read...

"See that the gap ‘tween young and old Runs deeper than the stories told".... So very true John ! Generations differ in thoughts and behaviour and this gap is widening with time. We refuse to listen to the other side and no consensus can be reached as how to save this sinking earth. Powerful poem.
