I Wish I Was Raindrop
Once there was a little girl tall and full of pain. The little girl was as bright as the sun but all she wanted was to fall like the rain. Pitter patter, drip drop. She wished to reach the sky and travel the world. She wished to cut through the clouds like she was wielding a sword. She wanted to travel, she wanted to be small and fly, she would think ‘why why why was i born so solid?’ Her body was riddled with pain, her smile was brave. To be water would be to fly fly away. To run through the forest and swim through the sea; to move with the wind and be so free. The circle of rain was to fall fast and to drift back up to the clouds; only to do it again and again and again. She would wonder, ‘could I see the sea? maybe the great lakes? drift with the clouds to the Mississippi river?’ Instead she was stuck here, on the ground, in her bed; too sick to move but small enough to reach for the sky and all she could say was ‘I wish I was a raindrop.’
