I WISH I HAD

As my memory turns the page On that fine day of my fine age I wish I held that dream so tight And never threw it out of sight On that fine morning, that fair glow I wish I did not let it flow Like running water free of rein Like blood that flowed out of my vein I wish I had the will to keep That dream that hunts me in my sleep The finest trace of faded past I should have kept in me to last I wish I had poetry contest 2nd place
