I Will Not Surrender
I have seen giving in, giving up,
but I have never held that cup.
I cannot embrace compliant
or be an acceptance client.
Some do tolerate travesty’s place,
but I cannot abide its sour trace.
I will not forsake heartfelt ideal
so I disregard acquiesces’ appeal.
What others may allow or abide,
I refuse to absorb in good stride.
Genuine truth, I will not surrender.
I remain an individualism defender.
I will never stand in line
to sip the conceding wine.
