I Will Call You

I will call you, he says. Fully lying. A tiny tear forms before she can wipe it away. This is how all of her dates end. He gave her a soft apologetic smile. Do you need cab money? The tears are flowing freely now. He is a blur as he waves and leaves. He knew that she knew he was never going to call. But he had to escape. She made dull seem boring. His true soul mate, only given a brief hour and ten minutes. He spent the rest of his life looking, Never realizing he needed to give her more time.

I imagine thousands. Our society is so impatient now. We want it yesterday.

You too Alexis! I sometimes think we are so eager to be instantly gratified, and quickly smitten we miss the best parts of life.

OMG... this was wonderful.. and heartbreaking... come back stupid... I want to scream... instant or nothing... that is the way of things now... his loss. Take up poetry, get a bird and a nice dog, that talks to the owls. Life will be great. Hugs... Wonderful write. You have a command about this... captain of a lovely ship of dreams...

Thank you so much. I started in a whole different direction - Trixie, my muse, turned this one, and rather quickly, taking me by surprise.

Curiously, my best friends were not immediately my best friends and I was angry with Joey Krutsinger for many years for telling my first grade teacher he was going to marry me. I was six and horrified. I was going to marry Daddy.
