I Went To Heaven

My death and afterlife; deep concepts that
stirred up my mind more often as I age.
I formed a vision that my faith implied-
my journey far beyond death's earthly stage.

Now I have passed. The darkness is so still-
then, all at once, becomes the brightest glow.
And drawn to enter this dimension now,
I'm swept within, like lightning in the flow.

At once, I meet my loved ones gone before-
embracing them with love and spirit tears;
know they have waited long to greet me and
reunion is so blessed with soulful cheers.

With bodies gone and just our mindless souls,
we see each other without earthly eyes;
led by the aura of the deepest love,
I feel that sense of bonding with my ties.

What thoughts I had while living on my earth
about what Heaven was in my own mind,
does not compare to miracles seen now;
my life in Heaven cannot be defined.

Such unimagined beauty in this realm,
a sense of love and peace pervades my soul;
such feeling, so sublime and mystical;
my journey back to God has made me whole.

Another realm, for sure my Heaven is.
I feel God's knowledge in my spirit shell;
my earthly questions are all answered now.
Within this everlasting love- I dwell.

I absolutely love reading this wonderful poem of yours, if you read NDEs you will notice that they all experience the same thing, the light, and out of body experience, anyways many congratulations on your wonderful 2nd position in the contest, good luck and have a really nice day

Congratulations on your wonderful Second Placement Sandra! My mother had a NDE and she said we retsin all our senses without having a body. She witnessed everything that was happening to her on the operating table while looking down and observing from the ceiling. She was not aware that she was looking at herself at first. She left toward the light and she did not want to return because of the peaceful, loving feelings that embraced her. A shot to her heart returned her to us. : )

Oh, my, Connie...what an experience for your dear Mom to have. There are many others who have had an NDE, and we cannot ignore these phenomena as being a glimpse into the truth of our life beyond death. She was blessed to have seen it for sure. Thank you for reading my poem and your congratulations! Hugs, Sandra

Going into favorites - another 7 and a well-deserved win! Again, why not 'rhyme', why 'verse?' I will go read verse yet again. You are a talent and time with your poetry has uplifted my spirits and consciousness. You and your pen are a joy - ... CayCay

Hi CayCay, thank you so much for all your visits and wonderful comments to many of my poems and for your support. I appreciate this so much. You can choose 'Verse' as the form when the poem is metric and there is no actual choice of form to use. This poem fits into Iambic Pentameter - has 10 syllables per line with five feet, but only has two lines that rhyme, hence I chose 'Verse'. Hugs, Sandra

Ambitious topic, gracefully unfolded. Especially struck by how inclusive are your word choices. I would have left out "His" in the last line, because your vision feels more comprehensive than that, but a minor note in a surprisingly light-filled transcendent experience. So, thanks!
