I Want To Be Pinocchio

I wanna be a tree
A big ‘ol block of wood
	Just swayin’ in the breeze
Suckin’ in the bad air and
Letting out the good
With squirrels climbing all over
My branches tickling me
                     Birds nesting
                     Bugs munching
                     Flowers blooming
                     Fruits budding
A man snaps a limb that’s in
	His face
		That’s how I feel pain
I wanna be a tree
I know why leaves leave
	Just Nature callin’
Squirrels never turn their back or
Promise the world
	Or break your heart
A tree never knows
			Crying….
All alone because you’re
	All alone
Wood has knots and it’s ok
But a stomach hurts
Not wood
A tree weathers the storm and love
		Creates one
God seems to leave
Mother Nature alone yet
	Mettle
In the affairs of Man on a daily basis
I wanna be a tree
A big ol’ block of
	wood
While Pinocchio wanted to be a boy
He didn’t know how lucky he was

I'm sorry I was running out of space on the last post...as you referred to "a fleeting thought that blossomed", if you would like go read my poem 'a poem formula' you may enjoy that one, & totally understand exactly what I am talking about :) I think I may have found a poet friend in spirit with you :)

If only the website incorporated some way of showing if a person had written back to you on a comment..and thank you in return for reading my poetry. I agree with you I don't always comment on what I have read, not because of not liking it, but more for the fact of not always being able to express what emotion reading that certain work, evoked. a like button would be very efficient over the rating system, it's so hard to base my opinion on a scale at times.

I am grateful you enjoyed reading this, Crystal. You are right, it would not be any fun having no feelings, but that was a fleeting thought that blossomed, as you know they can. The lines and spacing are done because I'm trying to paint a picture. I visualize many of my poems and try to paint a mental picture for the reader for the ones I share. The deep indent of crying, separate, apart ... I hope stirs some image. And on and on. But, it's for visualization. Glad you enjoyed it.

Love this one, Anthony. Trees are so great! Just listen to a Stradivari violin. These trees came to life in another way. but, for me, like the Greeks, everything is alive.Congrats on this fine poem being selected. Love, daver
