I Spoke To God

I spoke to God
using prayer and sign--
to which there was no
reply;

I spoke to God
using tears and sigh, 
running out of ways
to try;

I spoke to God
I spoke to God
enunciating, making certain
my speech quite clear

still I could not hear
over seagull’ chatter,
voluminous sea and sky
for nigh
a great storm.

I spoke to God
I spoke to God
till all was calm
with silence.
