I See That Look of Jealousy
I see that look of jealousy
and the tighter you try to hold me,
the harder I can breathe;
that's the awful feeling I perceive.
I'm forbidden to confide
in anyone, you restrict the freedom
and the will to say how I'm treated;
you don't own anything: I'm
made of flesh and bones and the wisdom
I have remains inside,
and there's no hope I can ever be loved.
I see that look of jealousy
and it really scares me,
I am not your possession;
keep those hands off me,
stop treating me badly
to feed your obsession.
I had hoped you could change,
have an ounce of compassion
and love me more humanly;
I find your behavior strange,
it lacks comprehension...
all that is left is to walk away.
