I See Him When I See
Not with one you see, eye that dormant lies,
I’ve seen God in souls that Phoenix-like rise;
Whenever I see Me from me apart,
Mute witness and enabler in my heart;
In a tree standing all alone in desert,
See Him when my mind’s mirror's cleansed of dirt;
In mother’s selfless love do I see Him,
In her dreams that no one cares to redeem;
In a poor man’s precious last piece of bread
Fed to a hungry dog-- heart soul and head;
A grain to ants, plenty to elephant,
I see God in nature's discreet judgment;
Thorns grow as bosom friends along with rose--
His way to say: opposites born are close.
