I miss my youth – the way I’d run or swirl beneath warm summer’s sun. Oh, dahlia daydreams of romance, sweet kisses and that first slow dance. My real life barely had begun! Adventures I was slow to shun, A whirligig, with glee I spun imagining . . . perchance . . . perchance! I miss my youth. Good health was mine and ailments none, and oh, to meet that special one for whom I fell with just one glance. Soft brown eyes held me in a trance. The lesson learned: What’s done is done. I miss my youth.

Dear andrea, i love the imagery and liveliness of your lines flowing as you reminisce youth in the most elegant manner. I love how you’ve expressed so much using a form that isnt easy to do also! Especially love the way youv written “ and oh, to meet that special one for whom I fell with just one glance. Soft brown eyes held me in a trance. The lesson learned: What’s done is done.” Shows acceptance amidst regrets while looking back and there’s a lyrical cadence to your words! congratulations! Well deserved

Hi Andrea, The unending energy and fearlessness is what I miss most but I'm sure you are still young in spirit which is crucial to the aging process. I liked the way your formatted this poem repeating the theme. It drew me in any way. Blessings

I can so well relate. In youth, life was much more adventurous with thrills and sweet surprises. We had only dreams and no grappling with the harsh realities of life. Now after reaching a certain age, sickness and ill health have begun to plague us. Well articulated, dear Andrea. All the Best.

We live most of our lives as adults. We live through the children as we experience childhood through their eyes of a new generation. I loved to swing…it was freeing, loved the air up there, often closing my eyes. In a way, we had to work for that freedom, to keep it going, and feel its awe. I’m still up there, in my mind. Hugs-a-million!

Oh yes swinging. How I loved that. Today I try it with a grandchild and feel nauseated doing it. Uggg it sucks to get old.

Yes, sometimes we do remember things of the past when life was unhindered by age, health, and responsibilities, but we have to adjust then more on. Thanks for sharing this one with us. I like the feeling presented and the form of poetry used. Sara K

Yess you have expressed this beautifully and with great emotion. A feeling of yearning to go back and try again! How many decisions would we change if we could? So difficult to imagine since right along with the regrets are fond memories we couldn't possibly let go of. The butterfly effect! Good luck on the contest though you won't need it with all this talent! Xoxo

Don't remind me! No, do remind me -- I hear ya...though with me, lots I would change. And some fond things I would not change -- very active physically when younger my joints are now suffering the effects of arthritis -- but I loved the power soaring, and would do it all over again.
