Grandpa joined the Royal Navy as a cadet, he adored life on the cerulean sea. Often we’d talk until midnight, his sapphire eyes twinkled as he told me tales about ‘The Celeste’ I’d see photos of places he’d visited - Malta and Honolulu were his favourites. I was bereft when Grandpa died Sprays of lavender, heliotrope, and iris adorned his coffin After the funeral Dad gave me Grandma’s aquamarine and sapphire pendant which I wear daily. I really miss Grandpa. I have no momento's Arthur, pure fictional write. We rarely had contact with my maternal grandfather he was not a nice man, We did see our step step Grandma from time to time but she wasn't a close relative at all. My paternal grandfather died when dad was very small and his wife died in a work camp in Siberia. I feel I missed out so much in my childhood by not having grandparents:-( hugs Jan xx

Color offers a poet the emphasis needed to describe emotion and you've done a terrific job in doing just that. I'm sorry you never had time with your own. Hugs, Jan.

My maternal grandpa was not a nice man and his actions affected my mother all her life and we rarely had contact with him, he married 3 times. My paternal grandparents both died many years before I was born, I feel I missed out so much as a child:-( hugs Jan xx

You've certainly written brevity in blue with this Jan, I was surprised it was fiction, it seemed so real. Good luck. Tom

Very well said with grace, dignity and love. Very imaginative use of words and skillfully constructed. Your words took stage and treated the reader to a glimpse of your heart and poetic talent in a rhapsody of blue. Emile.
