I Fell Today

I fell today...broke a finger-- Thank you God it could have been worse; went to a friend’s funeral-- thank God I could have been first! Read in the newspaper an earthquake today... thousands died—I don’t think one had thought of me; yet God, far busier with other’s misery, knew I would feel blessed if left just to be….

Ah, well done indeed my friend. Some of the most profoundly wonderful poems are about ordinary daily experiences. This is one.
