I Dont Want To
For years I would make excuses.
Some were lies.
If I did not want to do something.
My cousin is coming to town that day.
I have a dental appointment.
My bartender’s dog is getting married.
I am wiser now.
I don’t want to, I tell them.
It is so much easier now.
It took me seventy years to get here,
but it is the best answer ever.
And there is never an argument.
