I Don't Understand

Listen to poem:
So you say and do things I don't get
I don't understand
You treat me in ways I'll never forget
I don't understand
Then other days I cant read you
I don't understand
Amazingly I see straight through you
I don't understand
Are you aware of your actions
I don't understand
Am I apart of your infatuations
I don't understand
What does everything mean
I don't understand
We're just like a movie scene
I don't understand
Why do you look at me that way
I don't understand
And you wonder why I stay away
I don't understand
You remind me of a light switch
I don't understand
Friendly or flirty which is which
I don't understand
How come you can't be straight with me
I don't understand
Especially if you don't see what I see
I don't understand
Your secrets and subtleties are way overdue
I don't understand
It's easy for me because I'm so over you
And this I do understand.

This poem pulses with emotional clarity and rising empowerment. The refrain “I don’t understand” beautifully captures the confusion and frustration of mixed signals, while the final shift—“this I do understand”—lands with satisfying strength. Honest, relatable, and rhythmic, it traces the journey from uncertainty to self-assurance with authenticity and heart. A powerful, personal reckoning.

I'm going to be honest, it almost brought tears to my eyes, reading your comment. I'm so happy you get it and you understand it because that's exactly the emotions I was describing of a friend who was going through thos situation. If course she understood it but I always wondered if anyone else could.
