I did not think I would be here.
The future was quiet,
No sound of it’s approach.
The day allowed for no escape,
No door or window
From the place that I was in.
I did not think I would be here.
So many days, like night , crushing quiet,
Only the light of missing stars.
Movement without touch.
Numb and frigid,
Rigid as a whispered drop of pin,
Beyond imagining.
I did not think I would be here.
A time of nothings, drawn from empty wells.
Unbalanced, broken lines of watered swells.
Stop sign, Red light,
Starting line with pistol raised,
Chamber emptied every night,
Blanks reloaded every day.
I did not think I would be here.
An opened door, turning on of light.
Rescued from the endless night.
I did not think I would be here.
One thought keeps us all alive;
One hope for tomorrow.
Do we hear a heartbeat other than our own.
I did not think I would be here.
Each day your Love
May save another life.
